… as CUSTECH matriculates 245 Students

The Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara on Thursday matriculated its first set of 245 students in courses ranging from Medicine, Surgery, Pharmacy, Architecture, Engineering and other science and technological related courses.

Governor Bello who was in attendance assured the school management and students of his administration’s continued commitment to funding of the institution which would be complementary units of the administration’s integrated policy in educational development alluding that massive upgrades were ongoing simultaneously.

The Governor noted that the worrisome trend of denial of several indigenes of Kogi state who were unable to pursue careers in Science and Technology due to very limited openings in universities outside Kogi State attesting that even with impressive scores in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), cutthroat competition for limited spaces and unfavorable catchment considerations usually put kogi students at a greater disadvantage, hence the need for its establishment.

He stated that after due consideration, a bill for the establishment of the Institution was sent to the State House of Assembly and story from that time had been speedy as CUSTECH went from consultation to conception to confirmation to construction to curriculum activities under one year.

In establishing CUSTECH, Governor Bello stated that the administration’s ultimate goal was to achieve a world-class citadel adding that it was designed and built to provide first-grade training in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines for the youths.

Governor Bello noted that by leveraging ICT and artificial intelligence (AI), it was the state’s plan to rapidly move the institution forward till it becomes comparable to similar schools anywhere on the globe.

He added that “the administration is also building a massive Reference Hospital in Okene which will be equipped with facilities which any ultramodern tertiary health institution would be proud of. It will be equipped for the diagnosis and treatment of most diseases prevalent in Nigerian society”.

He commended the CUSTECH Management led by Prof. Engr. Salawu Sadiku for relentlessly driving the Government’s vision of quickly bringing this university to fully functional order while challenging them to produce graduates for us in this first batch of students who are so excellent at what they do that future generations of students will be sought after from all over the world even before they graduate.

Governor Bello stated that in or out of Government, they desired to have that great sense of fulfillment which would come from seeing CUSTECH graduates taking the driver’s seat in national and international development.
