Chief Onoja Receives NEMA/SEMA delegation
• Says Agricultural Intervention Fund, Lease of Hope for Kogi Flood Victims
Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja, on Wednesday, received officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), joined by their counterparts from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
The State Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Sunday Faleke hosted the officials on behalf of Chief Onoja, in his capacity as the Steering Chairman of Kogi SEMA, whose Team was led by Executive Secretary, Mr. Sunday Obari
The NEMA officials, led by Mr. Justin Uwazuruonye disclosed that his Team is in Kogi State in line with the enumeration and verification on the implementation of livestock, fisheries, and animal health for the emergency agricultural intervention fund to Kogi farmers affected by floods in 2020.
He said the Program which targets the LGAs affected by perennial floods in Kogi State will offer succour to the affected victims and help bolster agricultural production in the State.
Remarking, the Deputy Chief of Staff expressed delight with the Intervention and assured the officials of adequate security and commensurate support throughout their exercise. He said as Chairman of Kogi SEMA, the Deputy Governor remains passionate about the plights of victims of natural disasters and would always key into programs that seek to alleviate their plights.
Hon. Faleke tasked the NEMA and SEMA to weave out strategic planning and execution modalities to help expedite the exercise, charging the officials to ensure that only the affected farmers benefit from the Intervention Fund.
