Cluster Management: We Will Have A Formidable GSM Village In Kogi State- KEDA Boss

In it’s continued effort to transform the SME sector of Kogi State, giving a non-divided attention to targeted businesses, Kogi Enterprise Development Agency, KEDA, has met with GSM operators to discuss possible ways of shared facilities that would enhance productivity and in turn, boost the economy of the State.

The MD/CEO KEDA, Hajiya Rekiya Onaivo Sanno who received the GSM operators in her office, lauded the group for having the most organised system of operation in place despite the limited resources at their disposal.

She disclosed that the aim of the interface with the group is to identify their strengths and weaknesses,possible ways for shared facility access, in an effort to boost productivity and create an enabling environment for GSM operators in the State

She said the agency’s mandate is to resuscitate businesses that folded up as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The KEDA boss identifies the need for the association to have a cluster formation to enable them enroll and benefit from interventions being rolled out by World Bank and other financial institutions to aid productivity and give a touch of professionalism.

In his remarks, the chairman of the Association, Mr Idris Mohammed, highlighting one of the challenges
as absence of a standard structure for the Association noted that, the provision of a formidable GSM Village for it’s operators will attract recognition from other states and put Kogi in the front line. Hence the need to synergies with KEDA

The gender – sensitive KEDA Boss however called on the association to ensure that women are carried along in every of their activities, adding that, enhancing the capabilities of women is part of KEDA’s ultimate goal.

Recall that Hajiya Rekiya Sanni had met with the Special Adviser to the President on SMEs to discuss a face lift for business activities in Kogi State. Three key sectors were identified, which includes; Oil Palm,cassava and GSM villages for shared facilities.

She hinted that the agency is making arrangements to train not less than 10,000 youths in entrepreneur.
