Chief Onoja salutes new Attah of Igala on announcement

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State and Olimene Attah Igala, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja (CIK), has congratulated the New Attah Igala designate, Prince Mathew Alaji Opaluwa, following his approval as the monarch of Igalaland by the Kogi State Governor.

In a statement issued a few hours ago to journalists by his Chief Press Secretary, Promise Emmanuel, Chief Onoja extended his felicitations to the Igala Area Traditional Council, and the entire People of Igala Kingdom on a peaceful transition, describing the announcement as “a breath of fresh air for the Igala race”.

Chief Onoja, an Igala himself, expressed optimism that the New Attah elect’s sterling records of performance from decades of experience in the Public Service would be brought to bear in his Royal Office for the benefit of his Kingdom and people.

Chief Onoja who urged the Attah Elect to champion the cause of a greater Igala Kingdom in all his decisions and actions, also reminded the royal father that as a critical leader in the traditional governance hierarchy in Kogi State, he also has a sacred duty to work for the unity, peace and progress of the entire Kogi State.

The Deputy Governor therefore prayed for God to grant the Attah Designate long life, health, wisdom, carriage, capacity, and the fortitude to sit long and fruitfully on the ancient throne of his forefathers.
