Community appeals for grading of 200 year – old Ojibo – Igah stool in Kogi State
The people of Igah – Gate Community in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State have appealed to the state government to upgrade its traditional stool of over 200 years without recognition.
The traditional ruler, Chief Shaibu Onuche made the appeal on Sunday while receiving empowerment materials from the Chief Press Secretary to the State Deputy Governor, Hon Promise Emmanuel in his palace.
He said the stool has been there since 1818 and that despite such history that accompany the exalted seat, it has not gotten the recognition it deserved despite their overwhelming support for governments.
Chief Onuche noted his optimism in the ability of the current administration of Governor Bello to make it happen because it is a government that keeps to its promises, and thanked the CPS to the Deputy for his love for the people at the grassroots.
Speaking earlier, the CPS had informed the people that the gesture was in consonance with the political virtues taught by his principal, Chief Edward Onoja who had given his aides the orientation of reaching out to people at the grassroots from their earnings.
Hon Promise said his intention was to have able youths of the Community engaged positively and urged leaders in the area to provide him with phone numbers and other information of students from the area in various higher institutions for possible assistance.
He used the opportunity to launch the Kogi Rebel Football Club for the Community which he provided with kits in addition to the liquid soap, grinding machines and other things he provided the youths and widows in the community and Igah – Ikeje.
The CPS was accompanied on the visit by the Councillorship aspirant in Ogugu Ward 3, Hon Samuel Abutu, Comrade Robert Arome Eboh, Hon Samad Akoji, Haruna Moses Junior and others.
