Covid-19: Gov. Bello increases hazard allowance of health workers, says state not hiding any case »

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has announced an increase in the hazard allowance of front line health workers from #30,000 to #50,000 daily, while he encouraged them not to desist from attending to patients.

He assured that his Government would make available necessary personal protective kits which would guarantee their safety as they engage in their day to day life saving activity

The Governor made this known on Thursday, while addressing a team from the Federal Ministry of Health and Center for Disease Control from Abuja in Lokoja.

The Governor again reassured that his government would not hide any occurrence of Covid-19 in the state while he cautioned that Governments and the people should desist from over advertising the Covid-19 virus.

He pointed out that the State have recorded no case of Covid-19 yet although there were numerous suspected cases which turned out to be false and plenty of rumoured cases which were found to be nonexistent when the state’s medical team followed up to investigate.

Gov. Bello noted that the state’s peculiar challenges as a frequent hotspot of unforeseen disease outbreaks had over the years imposed an unusual heights of public health vigilance which had helped to quickly put its best foot forward long before the Covid-19 was declared a pandemic.

The Governor giving a brief overview of the State’s Covid-19 strategic response which included the set up of 3 well equipped isolation centers with over 130 bed spaces, launching of a web application for citizens’s engagement and self risk assessment.

He added that the people were adequately sensitised in all languages and locations throughout the state about CoviD-19 and as much as practicable Kogites now observe social distancing, handwashing and other protocols for prevention of infection.

Governor Bello however warned that the Government all over should also place its focus on other very important issues of concern in the country like insecurity, banditry, negative economic after effect of the covid-19 virus and other health pandemic which had more deadlier effect and less recovery rate than current pandemic.
