Cultism: Gov. Bello talks tough, gives one month ultimatum to end menace

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has given Institution heads and Security agency February 28 deadline to put an end to cultism and other criminal vices on and off campuses in the state.

The Governor also gave directives for the launch of a state wide campaign against the menace at all levels in Kogi State.

This was made known in a press briefing on Friday by the Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo after a close door meeting between the Governor, Exco members, Heads of various Institutions and Security Heads in the State

Mr. Kingsley noted that the Governor hinged on his zero tolerance for insecurity have pledged to turn his government’s attention to concerns of cultism in various higher institutions noting that it remained the responsibility of government to provide adequate security.

The Commissioner stated that the Governor vowed to deal decisively with anyone found culpable particularly any Head of Institution planning to jeopardize his administration’s effort in this regard

Mr. Fanwo mentioned that the Governor charged institution heads on having a robust bio-data for their students, staffs and management team noting that efforts should be made towards organizing sensitization for host communities and other stakeholders.

The Government’s spokesperson noted that the Governor pledged to support institutions in their efforts particularly in construction of perimeter fences around the campuses.
