Ejura Onoja Hails Rashida Bello at Low-Key Birthday Iftar With Women, Calls for Prayers

Kogi First Lady, Mrs Rashida Bello marks her birthday with breaking of fast with Kogi women, family and friends on Sunday in Government House, Lokoja.

The breaking of fast which was used to mark her birthday, started with a minute silence to accord respect to late Hon. Adebayo Solomon, a board member in Kogi State Pension Board whose life was cut short by unknown gunmen on Friday.

In an opening speech, Wife of Kogi State Deputy Governor, Mrs Ejura Onoja who described the First Lady as an amiable woman that is selfless and a “rare gem” called for continuous prayers for her.

Mrs Onoja also solicited prayers for the peace of the country, the progress of the state and her boss, whom she said had over the years shown passion for the needy, young girls and under-privileged women and advocated their rights in the society.

She expressed optimism that Mrs Rashida Bello would initiate more programmes that could directly and indirectly impact more lives based on her bravery and courage displayed on many occasions for a better Nigeria when she emerges as the country’s First Lady.

“To my women, pray sincerely for Her Excellency, I want to believe that majority of us here tonight are Muslims, who have come to break fast with her.

“Honestly, we have never had it this good. Let’s pray that God will bless her for all she has been doing for Kogi women and engrace her to do more for the country when they step up very soon.”

In a goodwill message, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade who opined that the focus was to take over the mantle of leadership from Aisha Buhari, encouraged the First Lady to continue with her good works.

In her closing remarks, the celebrant expressed gratitude to the women for converging to celebrate with her.

Her words:

“We tried as much as possible to tone down the evening party. I would like to congratulate the 21 vice chairpersons and councils.

“We will still celebrate our achievements. Let’s allow this period to go.

“The insecurity facing everyone is worrisome and we pray to God to guide and protect every single one of us. Ramadan Kareem to everyone. I will see you all very soon, again,” she said.
