Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has fulfilled his promise of providing subventions to youths and student unions across the state. This act has sparked widespread excitement and appreciation among the beneficiaries.

Recall that Governor Ododo during a meeting with youths and students leaders last week promised to resume the payment of subvention within one week to enable the unions carryout their activities with ease.

Governor Ododo, who has consistently advocated for youth inclusion and empowerment, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the aspirations of young people in the state as the various groups recieved payment of their subvention today.

According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youths and students matters, Ambassador Oladele John Nihi, the provision of subventions to various youth and student groups is a proactive step towards enhancing their capacity and fostering a conducive environment for their growth and development.

He said the payment of the subventions is expected to cover a wide range of activities for the groups including the running of their respective offices. “This financial support comes at a crucial time when many young people are grappling with economic challenges and striving to pursue their educational aspirations,” he noted.

Nihi commended Governor Ododo for prioritizing youth empowerment and education. He said Ododo is consolidating on the achievements of his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, assuring that the administration will continue to demonstrate its commitment to fostering a vibrant and prosperous future for the people of Kogi State.

Confirming the receipt of payment, the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kogi State chapter, Comrade Benjamin Jeremiah, and the president of the National Association of Kogi State (NAKOSS), Comrade Jeremiah Elukpo who spoke on behalf of other associations, both expressed their gratitude to Governor Ododo for keeping to his promise and for prioritizing the welfare of young people in the state. They noted that the subvention, unlike in the past, was paid directly to the accounts of the various associations. An initiative which has removed the interference and influence of middle men.

The youths and students leaders who declared their total support for the administration of Governor Usman Ododo, highlighted the positive impact that the subventions would have on their respective organizations and the broader youth and students community.
