The Coalition of Progressive Political parties in Kogi state under the umbrella of the United Progressive Political parties (UPPP) have accused the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede of gross incompetence adding that he should resign voluntarily for lacking the capacity to administer the anti-graft agency.

The group in a press conference addressed by the spokesman of UPPP, Hon. Ibrahim Itodo on behalf of the Chairman Abdulgafar Drisu Balla, on Wednesday urged the EFCC chairman not to hide behind the former Kogi state’s Governor’s case to hide his incompetency stating that they were no longer confident in the chairman’s involvement in the investigations and persecution as his disposition has clearly shown that the allegedly accused would not be treated fairly.

Mr. Balla also pointed out that the actions and the simultaneous responses on the Former governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello by the Inspector General of Police, the Attorney General of the Federation and other security agencies were tantamount to a complete disregard for the rule of law and flagrant disobedience of the constitution that protects our fundamental human rights.

The Chairman also advised the need for the anti graft agency to remove the name of the former Kogi state governor from the wanted list because such action was done with impunity and flagrant disobedience of the law.

Mr. Balla asserted that Alhaji Yahaya Bello has left indelible mark in the annals of history especially in areas of security, education, health, infrastructure and human capital development while he also stressed that selfish individuals who are desirous of crisis should desist from calling for the impeachment of the incumbent governor Ahmed Usman Odorous such is effort in futility.

The chairman urged President Bola Tinubu to caution all those saddled with the capacity to enforce the law in all ramification to do so with diligence in line with the rule of law.
