Fanwo preaches against cultism at Kogi varsity

Kogi State Information and Communication Commisioner, Hon Kingsley Fanwo has said cultism is against the Kogi brand, stressing the need for a concerted efforts against the menace.

The Commissioner stated this while briefing the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Kogi State University, Prof Tai Oluwagbemi on efforts by the Ministry at sensitizing students on the dangers of cultism.

He said the anti-cultism campaign of the Ministry was aimed at helping tertiary institutions match the directive of the Governor on stamping out cultism in our tertiary institutions.

“Our Ministry is responsible for promoting the Kogi brand. We are peaceful people. We are industrious goal getters who have contributed immensely to the greatness of our nation. We are the center of the nation, the genesis of Nigeria. These are the things we want to be known for, not cultism.

“It is heartwarming that the campaign of the State Government against cultism is already yielding fruits. We will continue to do more to orientate the people on the need to shun all forms of criminalities in our society. We commend the University Community for taking bold steps against cultism”.

Responding, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Oluwagbemi thanked the Ministry of Information and Communication for driving a consistent campaign against cultism on campuses, saying the efforts of the Ministry is already yielding fruits.

He said programs have been lined up to effectively root out cultism from KSU.
