Former Lokoja lawmaker, Babadoko leads 312 others formally into APC from PDP

The ranks of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC party in Lokoja Local Government Area has swollen with Saturday’s formal reception of one of its former lawmakers, Hon Suleiman Babadoko who led over three hundred others from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP into the ruling party.

The new additions were received by the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello at the party’s Local Government Secretariat in Lokoja.

Speaking in an opening address, the Local Government Chairman of the APC, Maikudi Bature welcomed the newembers and promised to carry them along in the scheme of things.

He said the party does not entertain any form of segregation or discrimination, adding that the decampees would be treated like every other member of the party.

The Chairman said there is no alternative to the party it is the party that has become the cynosure of all eyes, and called on the new members to feel at home and contribute their quota to the advancement of the cause of the APC.

Hon Maikudi, who thanked the state Governor, Yahaya Bello for his dogged determination to ensure that APC grew in strength was particularly grateful for providing the Local Government Area and the state with good governance since his assumption of office.

While pledging their unalloyed loyalty to the party and the administration, the Chairman used the occasion to appeal for assistance in the areas of office furnishing among others.

In his own address, the Administrator of Lokoja LGA, Hon Muhammed Dan’Asabe expressed joy over the occasion, saying the decision of the new additions to join the APC gladdened his heart and assured them that he would carry them along in the scheme of things.

He assured them that the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello is one that carries everyone along irrespective of class, religion or creed, adding that the government is only concerned about excellence.

He said the party does not discriminate irrespective of when members joined, and assured of level playing field in the discharge of the party’s duties and the general administration of governance.

The administration, he noted, operates an open door policy to make life better for the people of the LGA and the state in general.

Receiving the decampees on behalf of the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Chief of Staff, Hon Edward Onoja expressed happiness that such figures as Hon Babadoko was joining the party.

He promised to ensure a level playing field for all the decampees for the progress of the APC and Kogi State in general.

Other speakers which included the special adviser to Kogi State Governor on Job Creation, Hon Suleiman Aguye, the elder-statesman, Hon Bala Salisu and member representing Lokoja I constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Umar all expressed gratitude for the decision of the decampees and promised to carry them along.

Highlights of the occasion include musical entertainment by local artists from the area among others.
