GOACG’26 Technical Committee Begins Implementation, Holds Draws
The Technical Sub-Committee of the Governor Ododo All Campus Games 2026 (GOACG’26) has commenced the implementation of the maiden inter-tertiary sports competition with a technical session involving representatives of participating institutions.
The technical session, held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Lokoja brought together Directors of Sports from 12 of the 13 participating tertiary institutions to deliberate on the rules, guidelines and operational framework for the GOACG’26.
The meeting featured the presentation and discussion of the GOACG’26 Games Handbook, alongside the conduct of draws for the sporting events.
The handbook, which contains the rules, regulations and guidelines governing the competition, was considered and adopted by the participating institutions after deliberations, with some adjustments agreed upon.
The competition will feature football, basketball, volleyball for male and female teams, and athletics for male and female athletes.
The technical session also approved four institutions as zonal centres for the Games, based primarily on the availability of sporting facilities, with hostel accommodation also considered for some zones.
Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, was selected as the East Zone centre; Federal College of Education (FCE), Okene, will serve the Central Zone; Federal University Lokoja will host West Zone A, while College of Agriculture, Kabba, will serve as the centre for West Zone B.
According to the Technical Sub-Committee, the selection of the centres was informed mainly by the availability of suitable sporting facilities. Hostel accommodation was also considered for the East Zone and West Zone B.
The 12 institutions represented at the technical session were PAAU, Anyigba; Kogi State University, Kabba; Federal University Lokoja; Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara; Federal Polytechnic, Idah; Federal College of Education, Okene; Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja; Kogi State College of Health Technology, Idah; Kogi State College of Nursing Sciences, Obangede; Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute, Lokoja; Kogi State College of Education (Technical), Mopa; and College of Agriculture, Kabba.

Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, was the only participating institution absent from the technical session.
The technical session marks a key stage in preparations for the Governor Ododo All Campus Games, which is bringing tertiary institutions across Kogi State together in a multi-sport competition.
The Games are designed to provide students with opportunities to demonstrate their sporting abilities while encouraging interaction and institutional unity among participating tertiary institutions.
