Provost’s Cup Final: KSCOET Mopa Prepares for Governor Ododo All-Campus Games
Commissioner Aridaojo Monday Anyebe and other dignitaries during the 2026 Provost’s Cup grand finale at KSCOE(T) Mopa.
Kogi State College of Education (Technical), Mopa, has demonstrated its readiness for the forthcoming Governor Ododo All-Campus Games following the successful conclusion of its 2026 Provost’s Cup competition.
The week-long competition, held at the College Sports Complex, featured football, volleyball, basketball, lawn tennis, athletics and cultural displays, providing students with opportunities to showcase their sporting talents ahead of the inter-tertiary games.
The grand finale was attended by the Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Education, Hon. Nanahawa Kazeem; and the Chairman of the Governor Ododo All-Campus Games organising committee, Comrade Michael Achor Joshua.
Also present were the representative of the Chairman of Mopa Local Government, Hon. Tope Ajayi; members of the Mopa Traditional Council; representatives of ICDA Kabba; and other dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, Anyebe said sports had come to stay in Kogi State, assuring stakeholders of the continued support of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration for youth engagement, talent discovery and sports development.
He said the administration would continue to promote sports as a platform for fostering unity, peace and youth development across the state.
The Commissioner commended the Provost, Prof. M. K. Ibrahim, for organising the competition, describing it as an important platform for student engagement and sporting development.
Anyebe also pledged the Ministry’s support for the College’s sporting activities and urged the Provost to sustain efforts to identify and nurture sporting talents among students.
In his remarks, the Provost appreciated Governor Ododo for his support for the institution and thanked the Commissioner for attending the grand finale and supporting sports development.
He said the Provost’s Cup was organised to foster unity among students and strengthen the relationship between the College, the local government and the state.
The football final saw the School of Sciences defeat the School of Business Education on penalties after regulation time ended goalless.
The School of Sciences also emerged victorious in volleyball and the boys’ and girls’ relay events.
The competition ended with the presentation of trophies and awards, while the performances recorded across the various sporting events provided an indication of the College’s preparations for the forthcoming Governor Ododo All-Campus Games.
