Gov Bello attends late Justice Tom Yakubu’s valedictory, describes him as a man of insight, high principles.
Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello has described the Late Justice Tom Yakubu as a man of deep learning and extraordinary insight who demonstrated humaness and high principles in the performance of his duties.
The Governor made this remarks at a special Court Session held at the High Court of Justice, Headquarters, Lokoja, as dignitaries and former colleagues gathered to pay their respects to the late Jurist.
Governor Bello said the news of his passing saddened him and the state at large as he was an illustrious citizen of Nigeria from Ankpa Local Government Area of the State.
He affirmed that the Justice distinguished himself as a fair and astute jurist with a reputation for honuor, integrity, hard work and modesty as he had contributed greatly to the development of the Law and the administration of Justice in the country.
Governor Bello asserted that the late Justice Yakubu was a devouted Christian who co-founded the Christian Law Students Fellowship of Nigeria at the Nigerian Law School Lagos in 1979.
The Governor stated that his effort was instrumental to the salvation and spiritual growth of generations of law students and lawyers who have been impacted by the fellowship over the years.
He noted that although the late Justice still had much to offer before his untimely death, his legacies which would be long treasured by all who knew and loved him gladdens the heart.
The Governor condoled with the wife, children, extended family, community and friends and colleagues as he prayed for God to comfort those left behind.
The late Justice Tom Shaibu Yakubu passed away on the 24th of December at the age of 66years. Until his passing he served diligently on the Bench at the Court of Appeal of Nigeria, Lagos Division.
Several colleagues in their testaments described him as an hardworking, God Fearing and incorruptible Judge who mentored even younger professionals affirming that he would be missed greatly.
They affirmed that during his voyage in kogi State he helped to raise the bar of the profession by particularly impacting those who were indigenes of the State for excellent professionalism.
