Gov Bello commissions ultra-modern Kogi JNI Mosque, Hall

*As body confers Award for Religious Unity, Peaceful Coexistence on Gov

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has commissioned the ultra-modern State Jamaatul Nasril Islam (JNI) Mosque and a Hall located in Lokoja the State Capital built under his administration.

The occasion which took place on Sunday at the JNI Secretariat had in attendance several dignitaries, including the National JNI Secretary General, Associate Professor Khakid Abubakar Aliyu, who represented the Sultan of Sokoto at the occasion.

Performing the project’s commissioning, the Governor, who responded to many speeches earlier made, including keynote address at the occasion, expressed readiness to ensure he left a legacy that would justify his leadership of the state.

He said he understood that all actions shall be questioned by the Almighty God on the day of judgement, stressing that his vision for Kogi State had always been about posterity, not the immediate future.

The Governor said he wants to be remembered for the bravery with which he led the state, saying that in the end, he wants the question to be about how he had tackled channeling situations that he met including the security situation.

To him, he also wants to be remembered for the way he faced the problem of ethnic division, religious and class segregation that he met and took pragmatic steps at addressing, adding that it has always been in his mind to leave a legacy that people would look back and speak well of him for.

While calling on other leaders across all sectors within and outside the country to come up with policies that would make life better for their followers, and urged citizens to also ensure restraint and patience with those at the helm of affairs.

“I want to be that man that came up with solutions to all forms of division in the state and country. I want to be remembered as the man who left the stage after making things better than I met them in the country. I can only succeed, if I get the cooperation of all which I am seeking. Leaders must be given the necessary to ensure they achieve the development that citizens are clamouring for.”

Governor Bello used the occasion to praise the leadership of JNI in Kogi State under Ambassador Usman Bello for the prudence with which resources released for the projects was released, saying despite continued rise in prices of goods, it was delivered on schedule within the resources made available.

“In 2019 we were gathered to carry out the foundation laying ceremony and today we are commissioning the projects. I hereby aplaud the leadership of Ambassador Usman Bello and other heads of JNI for their uprightness and commitment to the cause of Islam.”

The Governor, who further called on JNIs across the country to come to Kogi to learn of how the body should be run, laud the peaceful relationship existing between them and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state for their harmony and tolerance.

Speakers after speaker had earlier applauded the Governor for his demonstration of love for religious harmony in the state and prayed for the success of his administration.

The Governor was then presented with an award for his peaceful disposition and religious support for all faiths since his assumption of office.
