Gov Bello Inaugurates State Publicity Committee For 2023 Census

Kogi State Government says it will sustain it existing partnership with the National Population Commission towards a successful Census 2023.

Governor Yahaya Bello gave the assurances in a message to the inauguration of the State publicity committee in Lokoja.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, Governor Bello said the National Housing ànd Population is key to growth and development of any Nation, hence the need for concerted effort to achieve set goals.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for creating the enabling environment for the exercise to hold in May in a quest to have a relaible data for the incoming administration to work with for effective planning and development.

Speaking, Chairman of the Publicity Committee and Deputy Governor of the State promised a robust working relationship by the committee with the Commission to sensitize the public to realize set objectives.

In his opening address, the Kogi Federal Commissioner of NPC, Professor Habibat Isah Jimoh promised the commitment of the Commission to deliver on it’s mandate.

Professor Isah-Jimoh said all the operations of the Commission has been fully digitized to avoid compromise of the exercise.

Also speaking, the State Director of the Commission, Mr. Abiodun Titus Ojo said all hands are deck to make the 2023 Census the best ever.

Mr Ojo said recruitment of adhoc staff have been done with international best practices to overcome challenges associated with previously conducted Census.

He urged all stakeholders in the publicity committee to partner with the NPC in desseminating the right information to the public before, during and after the exercise.

In his goodwill message to the occasion, the State State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Femi Fanwo promised the support of Government information outfits to educate the people of the State of the importance of making themselves available for the exercise.

Also in his goodwill message, the Attah of Igala, His Royal Majesty, Matthew Alaji Opaluwa represented by Onu-Itobe, Alhaji Shaibu Adaji appealed to the Commission to consider partnership with Boat Association to enable the enumerators access flood prone communities during the Census.

Goodwill messages was also received from the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists by the State Chairman, Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh, State Director of the National Orientation Agency, CAN, State NULGE, JNI, National Council Of Women Society and People Living with Disabilities who all promised mobilisation of the members and resources to support NPC to achieve success.
