Gov Bello Launches 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem Appeal Fund

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has said that Security Officers cannot be appreciated well enough in view of the enormous services they render to the nation.

Governor Bello made the assertion at the Launching of EMBLEM for Year 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration in the State, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Lokoja.

The Governor explained that the Ex-Servicemen has rendered selfless service to the Nation hence the need to continually appreciate them annually.

He pointed out that Officers and Men of the various security outfits are people that should be supported at all times, saying that signing a document to lay their lives for others was the highest level of sacrifice a man can render for another.

He stressed the need to continually support the families of the fallen heroes, the living Ex-Servicemen and Serving Officers, describing their service to the Country and humanity as unquantifiable.

“I want to appreciate all Security Officers for always ensuring the security of lives and property of Nigerians

“Your services to the Nation cannot be appreciated enough irrespective of our support

“You people decided to sign a document that Yes, you are ready to put your lives on the line for others. To me, this is the highest level of sacrifice a man can render to his fellow man

“We cannot pay you enough, we cannot reward you enough, but we will continue to do our best to encourage you the serving ones, continue to support the Ex-Servicemen and as well, sustain our support to the families of those who lost their lives protecting others

“I will continue to give you all the necessary support and I assure you all of my continued partnership” he said.

The Governor urged the Nigerian Legioniers and serving officers to continue to give the government all the needed support at curbing the State and the Country of all forms of insecurity for a better society.

On his part, Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd), said the Emblem Launch is to creat awareness in the minds of the public and to raise funds for the Retired Men and Officers of the Army.

Commander Jerry explained that the event is also put together to appreciate those that are still serving and to encourage them that their sacrifices will not be in vain.

He commended Governor Bello’s commitment towards giving recognition to the Ex-Legion in the State.

The State Security Adviser said the Governor’s commitment towards the welfare of Members of the Ex-Servicemen and serving Men and Officers of various security outfits in the State is second to none, calling on them to sustain their support to the present administration in the State.

Similarly, the Chairman, Nigeria Legion of Ex-Servicemen in Kogi State, Warrant Officer David Salau, appreciated Governor Bello for according priority to members of the Legion in the State.

Warrant Officer Salau assured of their unalloyed support to the Governor Yahaya Bello led administration in the State, stressing that they will continue to contribute their wealth of experience towards ensuring the security of lives and property of the people of Kogi State.

The Launch of the Emblem is to honor fallen heroes who faught for the oneness and peace of Nigeria in various ways.

The Emblem Launch also signals the beginning of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day – a week-long event with lined up of several activities.

The Armed Forces Remembrance way is to be rounded up on 15th January, 2023 with Rift laying at the cenotaph.

Heads of various security Agencies, Government Functionaries, wives of fallen heroes, among others, were present at the event.

Highlight of the event was the Decoration of the Governor, Security Heads and Some Government Functionaries as well as the Generous Donation of 20 Million (2021 & 2022) by Governor Bello to the Nigeria Legion of Ex- Service Men in Kogi State.
