Gov Bello promises continuous working relationship with security agents to curb criminality in Kogi State

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has expressed his commitment to continuously working closely with all security agents in the state to forestall all forms of criminality.

He made the assertion today, Monday in Lokoja while receiving the newly deployed Commander, Nigerian Army Records, Major General Bamidele Olaleke Ogunkale in the state capital.

The Governor who thanked the outgoing commander, Major General Njoku for his diligence in service of the State, expressed hope that his successor would sustain the crime free records the state was known for.

Governor Bello, who said there would always be a place for the outgoing military officer in the state in view of his exemplary role in curbing crime since his assumption of office, wished him well in his future endeavours.

The new Commander of Army Records, Major General Bamidele Olaleke Ogunkale had earlier in an address commended the governor for his efforts at maintaining peace and security in the state.

He applauded the Governor for his pragmatic approach to the issue of security of lives and property of citizens and thanked him for his support to the various security agencies since he assumed office.

Insidestory reports that Major General Ogunkale was the Officer Commanding Field Engineer Squadron of the 7 Nigerian ECOMOG Brigade that Captured the St Johns Bridge which was prepared for reserved demolition during the ECOMOG operation in Liberia in 1993 as a Captain.

He also captured the Colonel that was to blow up the demolition alive, a feat that brought accolades to the Nigerian led ECOMOG operation which the carnage in the West African Nation.

The new commander also has several medals and awards to his credit; including Forces Service Star, Meritorious Service Star, Distinguished Service Star, General Service Star, Passed Staff College, Mali and the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Award.

He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Fellow Nigeria Metallurgical Society, Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Mechanical Engineers, Fellow of the National Defence University Islamabad Pakistan, Fellow of the Institute of Industrialist and Cooperate Administrators, Chartered Engineer with the Council for the Regulations of Engineering in Nigeria and Distinguish Leadership Award in National Development by ICON Milestone.
