We did not arrest Kogi Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja – DSS says
The Department of State Security has refuted news concerning the rumoured arrest of the Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Governor, Hon Edward Onoja over alleged plot to attack a former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Jibrin Usman (rtd).
This was contained in a Press Release by the DSS on Wednesday, signed by the PN. Afunanya, the Public Relations Officer in its headquarters in Abuja.
The DSS spokesperson stated that such news was fake, misleading and should be disregarded as the DSS never carried out such operation.
He pointed out that the Service recognizes that the media was a strategic partner in nation building and hopes that cordiality and mutual respectability are maintained in the relationship between them., but advised that stories must be verified before publications.
The DSS spokesperson further warned that persons or organizations that falsely use the name of the Service would be liable to prosecution stating that the Service would will, no doubt, continue to collaborate with all well meaning stakeholders to ensure that peace and order were maintained, not only in Kogi State but every part of the country.
