Gov Bello to Kogi youths, ‘We are most grateful’
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has expressed his gratitude to the youths of the state for their support for his administration and for mobilizing and voting massively for the APC in the recent governorship election in the state.
He promised a better deal for youths in his second tenure.
The governor made this remark yesterday at the youth house in Lokoja during the ‘GYBCEDO’ victory party organized by the Kogi State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
Governor Bello who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, said his victory at the polls was a clear indication that the people acknowledge the good works of his administration and decided to give it another four years to consolidate on the gains so far recorded.
Onoja said the administration of governor Yahaya Bello is committed to sustaining the legacy of unity, security, and improved infrastructure of the state, and called on the youths to continue in their support for the government as the second tenure holds better promise for the youths.
“His Excellency has said that this four years that has been given to him will be used to build legacies that the people of Kogi will remember him by.
“He has already begun to leave legacies in infrastructure through the construction of the second largest rice mill in Northern Nigeria, the construction of major roads in the central and eastern senatorial districts of the state among others.
The Deputy Governor said the construction of a Christian worship center in government house by a Muslim governor after 28 years of the existence of the state was a legacy that will never be forgotten in the history of the state.
“in the next four years, there will be more legacies, and if you search your soul very well, you will realize that it wasn’t like this in the 16 years before the coming of Governor Bello.” he said.
Onoja went further to say that it takes true leadership to be able to balance a multi-ethnic and multi-religious state where every tribe and nationality will have a say and a voice, and where no religion will be treated as inferior to the other. A feat which he said Governor Yahaya Bello has achieved through the EBIGO agenda.
He also said that the governor has bridged the gap between the haves and have-nots in the state, and have raised the consciousness of all that anyone can become great in life irrespective of one’s socioeconomic background.
He charged the youths to remain steadfast and promised that the government will continue to prioritize their needs.
Earlier in his remark, the chairman of the council, Comrade Israel Alonge said, the youths of Kogi State have never had it so good under any administration, saying that the government of Yahaya Bello has given the youths a huge sense of belonging.
He said the youth council has through the intervention of the state government been able to empower so many youths. He promised that they will continue to give the needed support to the government to help it achieve the plans it has for the teaming Kogi State youths.
