Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has admonished the Muslim faithful in the state to imbibe the teaching of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The governor made the comment at the residence of Seida Bilikisu Ibrahim Niasse in Okene on Thursday on the occasion of the 2023 Maulud Baye inyass PARADE.

In his message, Governor Bello recalled that the birth of Prophet Muhammad( PBUH) through whom the religion of Islam came to the world, has brought about positive changes in the existence and relationship among mankind and other living things on earth.

The governor stated that besides the divine revelations that he received and passed on to his followers, Prophet Muhammad( PBUH) was also a preacher of peace, honesty, patience, generosity, humility, love for one another and fear of Allah.

He said these are the virtues that people of the state irrespective of their religious practices are enjoined to imbibe and put into practice for the betterment of society. He admonished Muslims and other Nigerians to live an exemplary life to inherit the kingdom of God. Bello said that if Muslims and other Nigerians live a life worth emulation, and practice what they preach, it would not only enable the people to inherit the hereafter but it will also promote peaceful co-existence among the people in the country.

“We are in an elections season and at a time like this, I urge all Muslims to pray for Nigeria while I call on the good people of Kogi State to live in peace and harmony with one another inspite of our ethnic, religious and political differences.”
The governor enjoined the Muslim faithful to use the period to offer special prayers for peace in the state in particular and in the nation in general in the face of the current challenges in different parts of the country.

He used the occasion to reiterate the irrevocable commitment of his administration to the maintenance of law and order as the government has in collaboration with security agencies taken all the necessary measures to ensure the safety of lives and property of the residents of the State. He maintained that Kogi will remain the most peaceful state in Nigeria under his leadership and urged citizens to stay away from all forms of violence.

Speaking on the Naira scarcity which has brought untold hardship on the people, governor Bello said he shared in the pains and anguish the policy has unleashed on the people of Nigeria which formed his decision to approach the Court to seek intervention

“I am aware of the hardship and agonizing pains you have been going through to access your monies because of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Naira redesign policy. This is something that would have been done without you going through any pain. As a government with the mandate and responsibility of guaranteeing your welfare and security, the governors of Kaduna, Zamfara and I approached the Supreme Court and applied for an order of Interim Injunction restraining “the federal government through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) or the commercial banks from suspending or determining or ending on Feb. 10, the time frame with which the now older version of the 200, 500 and 1,000 denomination of the naira may no longer be legal tender. The Supreme Court gave its ruling yesterday that you can continue to use both the old and new naira notes in your transactions. We shall continue to stand by those we took an oath to defend, we can’t close our eyes seeing you suffering unjustly for the selfish interest of the few,” the governor said.

He also urged the people of Kogi Central to elect the APC presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives and Assembly candidates noting that on the platform of the APC, his administration has been able to bring development, peace and security to people.

In her response, Seida Rahamatullah Ibrahim Niasse thanked the governor for finding time to attend the occasion while commending his leadership which has brought peace and security, particularly to Ebiraland and Kogi State in general.
