Gov Bello Visits Site of Isanlu First Bank Robbery, Mourns with Yagba People

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello on Friday on 6th June, 2020 visited Isanlu in Yagba East Local Government following an attack by gunmen which claimed the lives of innocent citizens. 

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Promise Emmanuel, he said the Governor was represented by his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja who led a high powered delegation comprising of the State Assembly Members representing Yagba East Federal Constituency, Hon. Jimoh Omiata, Hon. Destiny of Mopa Muro State Constituency, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Mrs Folashade Ayoade Arike, The Deputy Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Government, Hon. Sunday Faleke, The Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Hon. Mukadem Asiwaju Idris, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Kingsley Olorunfemi Fanwo, Special Advisers, and the Senior Special Assistants on Security for Mopa Muro Local Government Area, Hon Sunday Moses David and host, Yagba East Local Government Area, Hon. Abdulwakil Sule along with other political office holders.

The delegation first visited the Palace of the Agbana of Isanlu, His Royal Highness, Oba Moses David.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Deputy Governor disclosed how very saddened the incident that took place a day before their arrival greeted the Governor, describing the perpetrators as soulless and wicked people who harvested innocent lives no man could replace.

He says this event comes as a stain to his administration’s relentless efforts towards assuring the security of lives and properties of Kogites.

In his words, ” His Excellency condoles the entire Yagba East people and the gallant Police Officers that lost their lives during the unfortunate event, including the DPO of Isanlu”.

“He asked me to assure you that he will not relent in securing Kogi state and Isanlu by extension. He has given a marching order to Heads of Security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime. Recall that the Commissioner for Police, Ede Ayuba was here earlier to show work has begun”, he stated.

He further added, “His Excellency sent us to register his condolences and also bring him first hand report of the event by visiting the venues where the crimes were committed. Governor Yahaya Bello Mourns with you”.

Responding, the Agbana of Isanlu thanked the Governor for his swift response towards the tragic event. He lamented on how professionally coordinated the robbers were, operating for about one hour, fifteen minutes without any of them gunned down. He disclosed that they were numbered up to 25. He also encouraged the Security agents in Yagba to be community friendly so as to improve intelligence gathering as according to him, this robbery is deeper than it meets the eye.

Afterwards, the delegation was led by the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State, to the Police Station were pints of fermented blood of the fallen Police Officers lie in wake, he explained how they were shot with necessary deposition of their bodies in the mortuary so far.

The bank scene was also inspected with key observation noted. The CP disclosed that investigations have commenced in earnest with some of the vehicles used by the robbers recovered through tracking of their trails in the bushes. He also noted that all surrounding CPs of Police in other states have been notified with intelligent sharing and manhunt for the robbers in top gear.
