Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Muhammed has condemned the robbery incident that occurred in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area on Thursday, describing it as unfortunate.

He made the condemnation in a press statement he made available to journalists in Lokoja on Friday where he also commiserated with families and relations of those who lost their lives or sustained any form of injury in the condemnable act.

The Commissioner expressed shock over the incident which he described as rare under the present administration, stressing that it has further underscored why the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello invested so much in security since his assumption of office four years ago.

Engr Bashir, expressed confidence in the ability of the administration to fish out the perpetrators, saying that Governor Bello would not leave any stones unturned until the culprits are brought to book.

He said the incident has a sour taste and attempts to create a slight dot on the perfect records that has been maintained under the current government in the sector, noting that the past incessant security challenges has been thrown to the dustbin of history.

“I have no doubt in the ability of the state under His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to nip this situation in the bud. Security challenges are a global phenomenon, bank robberies happen even in America and other western world, but we will prevail.

“This is not being insensitive to those who lost their lives. We mourn as a state. There is no doubt, perpetrators of this heinous crime will be apprehended in no distant time. Thank God for the synergy being enjoyed among security agencies in the state under the present government. We will conquer Insha Allah,” he stressed.

He used the opportunity to express gratitude to the Governor for swiftly informing the Inspector General of Police who has also assured the state of the preparedness of his men to fish out the culprits responsible for the robbery.

Engr Bashir then prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased and asked for divine fortitude for the families and relations left behind.
