Kogi Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has sworn in the recently appointed High Court Judge, Honourable Justice Yayaha Adamu.

The swearing-in held today at the banquet hall of the Government House in Lokoja.

In his Opening remarks and Citation of the New High Court Judge, The Chief Judge of the State, Honourable Justice Nasiru Ajana expressed his profound gratitude to the Governor for creating time to perform his constitutional duty.

The Chief Judge noted that Justice Adamu was the fourth judge to be sworn in by Governor Bello in the last two years stating that he has since shown his support for the judicial arm.

Justice Ajana revealed that the newly sworn in Judge was coming in with wealth of experience that would contribute immensely to the state’s judicial system.

The Governor in his remarks noted that it was not news that the judicial cases in the Country was overwhelming for the few judges on the bench and the swearing in of the New Judge was an addition of a qualified hand.

He pointed out that the confirmation of Justice Adamu demonstrated the synergy between the three arms of government in the state.

He noted that the last time such event was held, there were a bit of mis understanding between some sections of the executive and legislature and also some sections of the executive and the judiciary.

Governor Bello affirmed that all issues have been resolved as the judiciary staff had engaged in the biometric screening and the table payment exercise and that both judiciary staffs and civil servants in the state have received their salaries up till October, 2019.

The Governor revealed that it was important to make these clarifications as some members of the opposition were peddling falsehood as their campaign manifesto.

Governor Bello mentioned that such lies were further laid to waste when the members of the Organised Labour last week in a press conference affirmed the up to date payment of civil servants in the state and informed that Local Government Staffs and Primary School teachers were expecting their October, 2019 salary.

He expressed his confidence in the integrity and personality of the New High Court Judge, Justice Yahaya Adamu as he charged him to perform his duty without bias and with the fear of the almighty.

Justice Yahaya Adamu in his vote of thanks thanked the Governor for his appointment noting that God has used him to uplift him and confirm that God’s time is the best.

Justice Yahaya Adamu also thanked the Chief Justice for the State, Honourable Justice Nasiru Ajana whom he said brought him to relevance after he served as a Registrar for six years.

He also thanked the National Judicial Council (NJC) for confirming his appointment as he further prayed that the synergy between the three arms of government in the state should remain.
