The Igala sociocultural umbrella body ‘Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA),’ will today confer an award ‘Commander of the Igala Kingdom (CIK)’ on Chief Edward Onoja, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Kogi State.

The ceremony which will hold at the Igala Unity House in Ayingba, Dekina Local Government Area by 10 o’clock in the morning is in recognition of contributions/commitment of Chief Edward Onoja towards uplifting the socioeconomic well-being of the Igala people and the state in general.

The award which is described as one of the highest forms of award in ICDA is not coming as a surprise as he has continued to be referred to as “the eye of the Igala nation” by many for his impact.

“If past leaders of Igala origin were doing exactly what Onoja is currently doing – impacting lives through attraction of infrastructural development and empowerment of the people, the area would have been far removed from the under-development and backwardness that is its lot at the moment,” the National President of the ICDA, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Amodu said in one of his outing at Ogugu.

The Chief of Staff, a young man in his early forties, no doubt more than previous leaders who held sway higher positions has indeed done his people ‘the Igala nation’ proud as there currently isn’t any elevation majorly in political circle and otherwise, be it at the state and the federal levels in the lives of the sons and daughters of the Igala people that is not traceable to his influence.
