Hon Amodu Ibrahim Destiny: the journey so far in the early days as SSA security to Gov Bello for Ofu LGA »

It is a new dawn in the Ofu Local Government political discourse as the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello appointed Hon Amodu Ibrahim Destiny on the 12th March, 2020 to be his Senior Special Assistant on Security and to take charge of Ofu Local Government Area. That gesture, from the early days, has seen that it was a choice worthy of commendation as many illustrious sons and daughters of the area have applauded the New Direction Government for. He is actually breaking new grounds in effort to securing the lives and property of the people.

Upon taking oath of office alongside his compatriots in the other LGAs of the State, Hon Amodu quickly in kicked into action for all to see that there is a new Sheriff in town who means business. He was overwhelmingly welcomed to his hometown, Ugwolawo, the headquarters of Ofu amidst jubilant crowd made up of party loyalists, supporters and other stakeholders. He was quick to pay homage on one of the strong pillars of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Local Government, Hon Mohd Nasiru Alfa, who is also the Zonal Youth Leader, Kogi East at Ejule.

He used the occasion to see some notable individuals and groups with a view to assuring them of his preparedness to carry everyone along in the scheme of things under his leadership. That, no doubt, gave everyone concerned a sense of belonging that the singsong of Governor Bello, which is that equity would be his watchword was in practice.

While this was on, an unfortunate news filtered in about the demise of the mother of the Governor in Okene. Hon Amodu, on hearing this sad Development, had to jettison all that he was doing to attended the Islamic Burial Rites of Hajiya Hauwawu Bello where he prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul. He used the occasion to condole with the Governor and urged all citizens of the state to pray for the soul of the deceased to rest in Jannatul Firdaus. He was also present at the 3-Days fida’u prayer at Okene.

On formal receipt of his appointment letter from the Office of the Secretary to Kogi State Government (SSG), the Security helmsman for Ofu marched to the Local Government Secretariat where he was received by the council’s Director for Local Government (DLG), Alhaji Siaka Yakubu who gave him official briefings on the Security situation before handing over necessary files and information for the SSA’s necessary action.

Hon Amodu, has, without wasting time, attended his 1st Security/Stakeholders Meeting with officers of the Nigerian Police, including the Area Commander. The meeting no doubt, threw more light on some of the recent challenges being faced and suggestions were made on how the challenges can be tackled.

It is no doubt a new day and a new Ofu under the Hon Amodu as the Security Adviser to the Governor from the area. The prospect is no doubt, appealing to the entire citizens of the Local Government Area.
