I am focused on my job as Governor – Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has pointed out that despite the heightened political season, he was more concerned about doing his job as the number one citizen of the State.
He said even though the period of electioneering was around the corner, and there had been a lot of noise and misinformation, he remained focused on fostering the development of the State.
The Governor said this in his office in Lokoja on Monday, after signing eight bills passed by the legislative arm into law, noting signing the bills was another milestone in the history of the State.
He mentioned that majority of the laws were primarily aimed at improving the state’s revenue generation because Kogi would rely less on federal allocation in the nearest future, adding that other set of laws would cater to the interest of youths who he affirmed were very crucial constituents of the society.
The governor emphasised that he was not distracted by detractors as he remained focused on moving Kogi to the Next Level, stressing his confidence in emerging victorious in the forth coming election.
The Governor thanked the State House of Assemble and its principal officers for their continued cooperation and synergy with his government which has enabled them break an historic record of passing forty bills into law in the last three years.
The Governor similarly used the medium to thank members of the Media for their continued support for his government and charged them the uphold the principles of truth and strict professionalism, and promised his continued collaboration with them to further enlighten members of the public on his government’s effort in the Confluence State.
The Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mattew Kolawole affirmed that such day was historic as such feet had never been achieved in the State under any democratic dispensation.
He stressed that the bills passed and signed would contribute to the development of the state in diverse ways contribute to the development of the state, adding that such achievement was made possible because of the steady collaboration between the Executive and Legislative arm of the State.
