The Kogi State Commissioner for water resources, Honorable Abdulmuminu Danga has described the rumors of being detained by the police as absolute falsehood and a deliberate attempt by mischief makers to misinform the public.

Reacting to a message from our correspondence, the media aide to the Commissioner, Comrade Audu Peter said, his principal is currently at home and not in police custody.

‘My Boss left force headquarters yesterday after responding to the invitation of the police to get his statement concerning the rape allegation leveled against him by one Elizabeth Oyeniyi, alias Queen Nina”.

He said the Commission maintains his stance of being innocent of the said allegation, saying that those who are banking of falsehood and media propaganda to gain cheap political mileage will soon be disappointed.

Peter’s statement was collaborated by the Commissioner’s legal team who in a statement issued last night said the Commission wasn’t detained.

The statement reads; “Hon. Abdulmumini Danga was earlier today, invited for questioning by the office of the Inspector General of Police(IGP), over some spurious allegations bordering on Rape, Assault and Illegal Detention of one Elizabeth Oyenini.

“The Hon. Commissioner, as a law abiding citizen, promptly answered the legal call in company of his legal team and immediately drew the attention of Hon. IGP that, the allegations against him, being State Offences, can not be handled by IGP, but, by the Commissioner of Police (COP), Kogi State Police Command.

“IGP was further informed that, there is already a pending Petition against the said Elizabeth and Barr. Natasha Akpoti bordering on Defamation of Character and False Allagation against the duo, before the COP, Kogi State and both have been fidgeting.

“The IGP was equally notified that, the Hon. Commissioner had also approached a High Court of Justice of Kogi State, Holden session at EBOGOGO, wherein he had filed a 100 Million Naira libel suit, against the duo. However, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the suit is yet to proceed on hearing.

“IGP was finally informed that, the Hon. Commissioner will always avail himself, wherever and whenever needed to clarify any issue, which his office may have jurisdiction to handle, as a law abiding citizen.

“Hon. Commissioner later left the office of the IGP and zoomed straight to his house.

In view of the foregoing, we urge the general public to discountenance the rumors being perpetrated on social media that, Hon. Danga was taken into custody by the office of the IGP.”
