Kogi State Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja has felicitated with women across the State as Nigeria joins the global community in celebrating this year’s International Women’s Day.

Chief Onoja commended Kogi women for their instrumental contributions to the cultural, political, and socio-economical development of the State. He said through active collaboration with the Governor Yahaya Bello-led administration, Kogi State is blazing the trail in surpassing the 35 percent affirmative action for women’s inclusion in governments across the country.

He recalled that Governor Bello’s gender sensitivity and his ’HE 4 SHE’ disposition towards the Nigerian woman had stimulated the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), in collaboration with Global Gold Consult, to award him as ”The Most Gender-Sensitive Governor in Nigeria.”

Chief Onoja sutured on the national urgency for more women/gender-related policies, which according to him, could only be enhanced if a Leader with deep-seated interests in women inclusion is elected as President of the country.

”I am glad that most states are now adopting the Governor Yahaya Bello’s gender-sensitivity approach to women inclusion in gonvernance. I urge them to, whist still pushing for the legal teeth to their agitations, strategically project leaders who have shown proven actions in that line to higher offices with wider influence,” he said.

He urged women across Kogi State to heighten support for the New Direction Government in its efforts to consolidate existing gender-friendly policies whilst ensuring the increased development of the State.
