Still Serving, Still Delivering: Hon. Jibril Onoru-Oiza Abu Takes Healthcare Intervention to Elaite Community
The Honourable Member representing Ajaokuta State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Jibril Onoru-Oiza Abu, has once again demonstrated that true leadership is defined not by political seasons but by an unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of the people.
In continuation of his people centered representation and grassroots development agenda, the lawmaker paid a courtesy visit to the Palace of the Acting Etsu of Elaite Community in Ajaokuta Local Government Area, combining respect for the traditional institution with a timely intervention aimed at strengthening primary healthcare services in the community.
The visit commenced with a formal felicitation to the Acting Etsu of Elaite Community on his assumption of the revered stool in an acting capacity. Hon. Jibril Onoru-Oiza Abu also offered renewed prayers for the bereaved royal family, asking God Almighty to continually strengthen and uphold them while praying for the continual peaceful repose of the soul of the late His Royal Highness Ahmed Aminu Aku (Baagadoshi), whose reign remains remembered for fostering peace, unity, and communal progress until his passing on September 10, 2025.
Addressing the traditional council, elders, women, youths, and other stakeholders, the lawmaker commended the Acting Etsu for providing calm, purposeful, and unifying leadership. He described traditional institutions as indispensable partners in promoting peace, preserving cultural heritage, and accelerating sustainable development at the grassroots.
Reflecting on his stewardship as the representative of Ajaokuta State Constituency, Hon. Jibril Onoru-Oiza Abu highlighted several legislative interventions and developmental projects undertaken across the constituency, assuring the people that his commitment to effective representation remains as strong today as it was on the day they entrusted him with their mandate.
He emphasized that although he has taken the decision not to seek another term in the Kogi State House of Assembly, the mandate freely given to him by the people remains valid until its constitutional expiration. He reaffirmed that every remaining day in office will continue to be dedicated to purposeful representation, responsive leadership, and impactful service.
According to the lawmaker, public service is a sacred trust, not a seasonal obligation. He noted that while political contests may come and go, his responsibility to protect the interests, welfare, healthcare, and development of the people of Ajaokuta remains unwavering, stressing that genuine leadership neither begins with political ambition nor ends with it.
The highlight of the visit came when Hon. Jibril Onoru-Oiza Abu responded immediately to a request brought to his attention by a patriotic son of Elaite Community, Mallam Habib Idris, regarding the urgent needs of the Elaite Primary Health Centre.
Without hesitation, the lawmaker announced the immediate donation of critical medical equipment and relief materials to the health facility. The intervention includes hospital beds, standing fans, ceiling fans, and other essential medical equipment aimed at improving healthcare delivery and creating a more conducive environment for both patients and healthcare workers.
Hon. Jibril Onoru-Oiza Abu commended Mallam Habib Idris for his exemplary patriotism and selflessness, describing him as a worthy ambassador of the community whose concern for collective wellbeing exemplifies responsible citizenship and community leadership.
Following an inspection of the Primary Health Centre, the lawmaker expressed concern over the condition of the facility and immediately directed his intervention team to commence arrangements for a comprehensive renovation and facelift of the health centre. He further pledged to engage relevant ministries, departments, and agencies of government to attract broader infrastructural support and improved medical facilities for the benefit of the community.
Responding on behalf of the people, the Acting Etsu of Elaite Community expressed profound appreciation to Hon. Jibril Onoru-Oiza Abu for the honour accorded to the traditional institution, the prayers offered for the royal family, and the swift intervention in support of the community’s healthcare needs. He described the lawmaker as a dependable representative whose leadership continues to reflect humility, accessibility, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of his constituents. He offered prayers for greater wisdom, strength, divine guidance, and continued success in his service to humanity.
Hon. Jibril Onoru-Oiza Abu also used the occasion to commend the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for the remarkable achievements recorded under his administration, particularly in the areas of security, agriculture, education, and infrastructure, noting that Ajaokuta Local Government continues to benefit from the Governor’s inclusive and people oriented development agenda.
He further called on the people of Ajaokuta Local Government Area to remain united in supporting policies and programmes that promote sustainable development across Kogi State while encouraging continued support for the senatorial aspiration of the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, describing continuity of progressive leadership as vital to the sustained advancement of Kogi Central and Kogi State.
The visit once again affirms that Hon. Jibril Onoru-Oiza Abu remains fully committed to the mandate entrusted to him by the people of Ajaokuta. Though he has chosen not to seek another term in the State House of Assembly, his resolve to serve has not diminished. Until the final day of his constitutional tenure and beyond, he remains focused on delivering impactful representation, championing community development, and leaving behind a legacy defined not merely by words, but by tangible actions that improve the lives of the people.
