KGSG receives sanitation equipments, facilities from Federal Ministry of Environment

Kogi State Government on Thursday received sanitation equipments as well as facilities from the Federal Ministry of Environment as part of its effort in assisting the state in environmental sanitation and reclamation efforts.

Some of the items which were presented by the delegation from the Federal Ministry to the State’s chief of Staff Pharm. Abdulkareem Muhammed Jamiu included; waste truck, plastic recycling plant, receptacles, public toilets with 6 compartment and solar powered water source, 240 liters waste bins and many others.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Director Pollution Control and Environmental Health from the Ministry, Mr. Charles Ikeah explained that the team executed a community based environmental management project and desired that the facility and equipments be put to use soonest for the benefit of the people.

He noted that the team took a community based approach to ensure that communities took responsibility of maintanance for some of the facility and equipments given to them.

Mr. Charles on behalf of the Ministry of Environment thanked the government and the people of the state for their cooperation before, during and after the period of the execution of the projects noting that the Ministry would continue to partner with the State in all the positive effort it was making towards a better environment.

Resonding, the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Pharm. Jamiu Muhammed on behalf of the State expressed gratitude to the delegation for finding kogi State worthy of such gesture.

He asserted that cleanliness was a better guarantee for healthiness stating that all facilities and equipments delivered to the state would enhance a more sanitation conscious Kogi State and people.

The Chief of Staff stressed the urgent need for afforestation in the state, noting that such was another critical area the Ministry could be of great assistance to complement the State’s effort in such direction.

He promised that all facilities and equipments would be put to good use as he opined that the State would never cease to ask for more of such assistance from the Ministry for the good of the state and its people.

Highlight of the meeting was the announcement of the monthly sanitation exercise by the Honourable commissioner for Environment, Hon. Victor Omofaiye scheduled to hold on the last Saturday of the month of March.
