KGSG restates commitment to securing citizens, dwellers

Kogi State Government has restated its unwavering commitment to securing Kogi citizens as well as those dwelling in the state through its renewed fight against crimes, criminality and its perpetrators.

This was contained In a press statement on Friday by the Commissioner for Information and Communication strategy, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo.

Mr. Fanwo mentioned that the attention of the State Government was drawn to flashes of criminality in some parts of the State noting that discussions and deliberations on security topped the agenda of the State Executive Council in its last Exco meeting.

He noted that the state Government commended security agencies in the State for their doggedness and determination to restore Kogi’s heroics in the area of maintaining security of lives and property across the State.

Mr Fanwo stated that the unfortunate Itobe incident would be dealt with appropriately as the Government of Kogi State would as much as possible make efforts to stop whatever the people do consciously or unconsciously which might fuel crimes.

The Commissioner called on people across the state from Oshokoshoko to Okene and Itobe to maintain calm and trust in the commitment of Government under the leadership of Alh Yahaya Bello to rid Kogi of criminality.

He reiterated that in the last four years, the Governor has made award-winning moves to curb insecurity and criminality such as the setting up of a joint force known as OPERATION TOTAL FREEDOM as well as the establishment of the Kogi State Vigilante Service.

He asserted that such effort culminated in the drastic reduction in crime rate in the last four years as there was only one attempted bank robbery which was foiled by the security operatives.

Mr. Fanwo pointed out that Government is not oblivious of the fact that recent security concerns were result of negative reactions and spills from immediate neighbors, expressing confidence that the security architecture of the state could effectively deal with the situation.

He mentioned that the courage and patriotism of the people of Kogi State who have remained resolutely supportive of its efforts at addressing security issues was saluted.

The State Government made a renewed call on the people to be security conscious and report suspects to the appropriate authorities.

Mr. Fanwo added that the security whistleblower Policy was still valid under the coordination of the Office of the State Security Adviser.
