Nigeria at 66: Kogi CityBoy Reaffirms One Million Vote Target for Tinubu, Ododo in 2027

The Kogi State chapter of the CityBoy Movement has reaffirmed its stated target of mobilising one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in the 2027 elections.

The movement made the declaration on Thursday while marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, with its state leadership also calling for national unity, responsible citizenship and greater participation in the democratic process.

In a statement, Director of the Kogi CityBoy Movement, Hon. Ogah Mark, said the anniversary provided an opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s journey since independence and the need to build a country where citizens can access opportunities and benefit from national development.

Mark said the movement identified with the 2026 Independence theme, “From Reforms to Stability: Consolidating Nigeria’s Renewed Hope for Shared Prosperity,” and linked the objectives of the theme to the broader economic and development agenda of the Federal Government.

According to him, independence should be understood not only as political freedom but also as the capacity to create opportunities, strengthen communities and ensure that national resources translate into meaningful development, particularly at the grassroots.

He said the CityBoy Movement would continue its mobilisation activities across Kogi State’s 21 local government areas ahead of the 2027 elections.

“As Nigeria marks 66 years of independence, the CityBoy Movement celebrates the strength of the Nigerian people and the possibilities ahead,” Mark stated

“From Kogi State, our focus remains clear: across the 21 LGAs, we will continue to mobilise citizens for active participation ahead of 2027, with the goal of delivering one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.”

The movement also called for sustained unity and responsible participation in Nigeria’s democratic process as the country marks the anniversary.
