Kogi COS Receives State Cultural Ambassador, Promises Govt. For Support Upcoming Children Carnival

The Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku Mohammad Jamiu on Thursday received the State Cultural Ambassador, Miss Kemi Olawunmi in his office in Lokoja where he assured the Cultural Ambassador of the state’s continuous support to activities that will promote the culture of the people of the State.

Pharm. Asuku said that Governor Yahaya Bello believes that one of the ways we can display the existing unity in the state is to build our rich cultural heritage, showcase it and prove to the world that indeed, there’s beauty in our diversity while stating that the Governor since his assumption of office has accorded attention to the culture of the people of the state in all ramifications.

“Within five years in Office, His Excellency has been able to lift the ban on some cultural festivals in the State, gave a facelift to the State Culture and Tourism Sector among others so that the younger generation can know and appreciate their culture,” he said.

The Chief of Staff assured the ambassador that the State Government will continue to do its best at supporting and encouraging persons/organizations that are out to promote cultures the people of the state are known for.

“On behalf of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, I want to assure you that you have our support at ensuring the success of the Children Carnival you are organizing come 24th March 2021 in the Confluence State.”

He commended the State Cultural Ambassador, Miss Kemi Olawunmi for her commitment to promoting the culture of the State and enjoined her to sustain her efforts, stressing that the reward of hard work is more work.

The Chief of Staff also called on the people of the Western Senatorial District of the State to put up cultural activities to showcase the rich culture of the people of the Area.

The State Cultural Ambassador, Miss Kemi Olawunmi, thanked the Chief of Staff for granting her the audience and listening ears and commended the government’s commitment towards ensuring the success of the coming event, we know it will surely be a huge success.

Miss Kemi said the second edition of her cultural Project, ‘Kogi State Children Carnival’ which she came to solicit for the State Government support was to help inculcate the culture of the people in the heart of the young ones and as well showcase the rich culture of the state to the outer world.

“I also want to appreciate the State Council of Chiefs for finding me worthy to serve as the State Cultural Ambassador, its a rare privilege and I am grateful for it. I will continue to do my best to ensure I deliver the needed results”

Speaking about the coming Children Cultural Carnival slated for the 24th of March, 2021, the Cultural Ambassador said the event will help correct the negative effect of foreign culture that has fast eaten into the fabrics of the African culture.

The State Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Comrade Salifu Isah Idachaba, the Ohiegba of Mozum and Provost, Kogi State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Bukar Khalid, the State Little Miss Culture and Little Master Culture, alongside their parents were present at the visit.

The highlight of the visit was the decoration of the Chief of Staff with Local beads by the State Cultural Ambassador.
