Kogi East APC Primaries: Time for Calm, Dialogue, and Unity

The conclusion of the APC senatorial primary election for Kogi East has naturally generated reactions, emotions, and several conversations across the district. This is understandable because whenever people invest their hopes, energy, and belief in a political process, strong emotions will always follow the outcome. That is part of democracy.

As one of the aspirants in the process, I fully understand the expectations, emotions, and disappointments that naturally come with moments like this.

However, this is also a time for maturity, reflection, and responsible leadership.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) remains one political family, and everything surrounding the just concluded primary election should be treated as a family matter that must be addressed through dialogue, understanding, and internal engagement, not through actions or statements capable of creating unnecessary division within our party and our region.

This is not about defending or attacking anybody’s actions during the process. It is simply a moment for honest reflection from all sides. The truth is that if Kogi East had always gotten its politics right over the years, many of the frustrations and complaints being expressed today may not even exist. That is why anger alone cannot solve the issues before us. What is needed now is wisdom, dialogue, and unity of purpose.

It is also important to remember the wisdom behind the position of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, who advised states to embrace consensus where possible and direct primaries where consensus became difficult. That decision was clearly made with the unity, peace, and stability of the party in mind.

As loyal members of the APC, we must continue to respect that wisdom and always place the larger interest of the party above temporary emotions and political disagreements.

If anyone has concerns regarding the just concluded process, the proper step is to engage the leadership of the party in the state through constructive dialogue as members of one political family, not through actions capable of deepening division among our people. Because now more than ever, Kogi East needs all of us.

I sincerely appreciate every aspirant who participated in the process and every supporter whose passion and contribution made the primary election politically engaging and memorable. The conversations and attention generated throughout this process have once again shown that the people of Kogi East deeply care about the future of the region and the future of the APC.

To every one of my supporters across Kogi East and beyond, I want to clearly say this: Dr. Mahmoud Bala Alfa is here to stay and is not going anywhere. The conversations we have started must continue, and together, we will continue to work towards rewriting our collective destiny as a people.

I also sincerely appreciate the leadership of the APC in Kogi State under the guidance of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, and His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello CON, for their continued leadership and commitment to the growth and stability of the party in the state.

Now more than ever, Kogi East and the APC need calm, unity, and responsible leadership.

Political seasons will come and go, but the future of Kogi East will always remain our collective responsibility.

May Almighty Allah SWT continue to guide our leaders, strengthen our party, and bless Kogi East.

Signed:

Dr. Mahmoud Bala Alfa,
APC Aspirant, Kogi East Senatorial District.
