Kogi Government refutes news claiming invitation of Local Government Administrators by EFCC, ICPC
The Kogi State Government has refuted news making round of the invitation of the 21 Local Government Caretaker Chairman in the State by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission operatives over an alleged withdrawal of 90million naira from the LGA coffers
This was made known in a press release on Saturday signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onogwu Mohammed.
He stated that such information were politically motivated falsehood with the intentions to mislead the people of the State and as such should be ignored
The CPS noted that Governor Bello’s administration has always practised autonomy for Local Government Areas in the state even before the new Nigerian Financial Intelligent Unit’s (NFIU) directive and could not undo such transparent approach now that it was backed by Executive Order.
Mr. Mohammmed revealed that if such spurious petition and petitioners were found to be real, the State Government might consider appropriate legal actions against the perpetrators for making and spreading such fake news which constituted a cybercrime offences
