The apex Igala socio-cultural group, Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA) has conferred the Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Hon Edward Onoja with the merit award of Commander of Igala Kingdom (CIK) in view of his meritorious service to Igalaland.

The award conferment was announced today by the President of ICDA, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Amodu in Okpo the headquarters of Olamaboro Local Government Area as contained in a letter he presented to the Ejeh Olamaboro, HRH Simeon Ujah for onward presentation to Hon Onoja.

The ICDA president who described Hon Onoja as a man who has dedicated himself to the service of Igalaland and people of Igala descent wherever they are, urged the people of Olamaboro to be proud of having bred such an upstanding individual for the Igala nation.

He further lauded the Ejeh, whom he said was the first to mouth the idea of Onoja agreeing to assist in the completion of the then idealised Igala Unity House project which the Kogi Governor’s Chief of Staff helped in galvanising his political and other associates including Governor Yahaya Bello into completing.

Alhaji Abubakar was therefore grateful that he could contribute so immensely to the project among other countless projects and developmental programmes for the benefit of the entire Igalaland, and said every right thinking individual from the area should be proud and supportive of Edward Onoja.

The letter partly reads; “The National Executive Council of lgala Cultural and Development Association “ICDA” has approved your nomination for the conferment of lgala Merit Award as Commander of Igala Kingdom (CIK).

“This award is as a result of your selfless efforts and contributions to the growth and development of lgala Nation and ICDA. With this, you are qualified to use the acronym; ‘CIK’ after your name.”

The award, the letter further said, would be officially presented to Hon Onoja on the 14th of September, 2019 at Igala Unity Hall in Anyigba and congratulated him on the feat while encouraging him to consolidate on his efforts so far by doing more for the people of the area.
