Kogi govt to collaborate with miners for devt

Kogi State government has expressed its readiness to collaborate with miners across the state for sustainable economic development through improved Internally Generated Revenue.

The state commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Gegu made the promise on Thursday in Ankpa while inaugurating the new leadership of the Ankpa, Dekina, Olamaboro chapter of Miners Association of Nigeria.

The Commissioner used the occasion to sound a warning to illegal miners that the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello would not spare anyone caught engaging in the illicit acts in the sector, stressing that government searchlight was everywhere.

The ministry under him, he reiterated, was committed to ensuring it became the cornerstone of the state economy, stressing that he has taken it as his personal commitment and that of his staff to ensure they continue to play critical role in resource generation for the state.

He said Kogi State under Govenor Bello was doing everything humanly possible to bequeath wonderful legacy for the next generation, hence the need to do everything humanly possible to succeed.

While congratulating the newly inaugurated members for being found worthy to serve in their various positions, he urged them to discharge their duties diligently in their offices, and advised that they buy into the policies of Governor Yahaya Bello to enjoy their tenure in office and contribute positively to the state’s wellbeing.

The Commissioner who also said he looked forward to working closely with them promised that his office would always remain open to accommodate them in areas they may want clarification or collaboration.
