The governorship aspiration of Engineer Wada, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 16 governorship election in Kogi State, today suffered another devastating blow as members of Captain Wada Political Youth Structure in eight Local Government Areas of Kogi East except Ankpa, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) with a promise to mobilize all their resources in ensuring the victory of Governor Yahaya Bello at the November 16 poll.

The defectors were received today in Lokoja by the Kogi East Zonal Chairman of the APC, Hon. Ahmed Attah, Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho and the running mate to Governor Yahaya Bello, Chief Edward Onoja.

Leader of the group, Hon. Okpanachi Attah said their decision to join the APC at this time was propelled by the desire to join hands with Governor Yahaya Bello and Chief Edward Onoja to build on the positive strides of the government.

He said; “having considered all options, we are convinced beyond doubt that Yahaya Bello stands tall amongst those gunning for the number one seat of the state, and he remains a better option for Kogi State. Far better than the candidate of our former party the PDP”.

“We as youths need to join hands with the person who has proven both in words and in action to be the youth ambassador”.

“Opposition politics might not have allowed us in the past to say the truth about the developmental strides of Governor Bello, we cannot continue to deceive ourselves. Bello has done well and he deserves another term”. He said.

Hon. Ahmed Attah, APC Zonal Chairman thanked the defectors for insisting on truth and aligning with the government that has a clear vision for the overall development of the state.

He said the decision of the defectors was timely as the party was working at a decisive victory for its candidate at the governorship poll.

On his part, Chief Edward Onoja appreciated the defectors for listening to the voice of reason and freeing themselves from the chackles of selfish people who were only concerned about their personal gains.

He said Governor Yahaya Bello who is the leader of the APC in Kogi State has built the party with dignity, saying that leaders and indeed every members of the party are hospitable. He promised that both new and old members will be treated equally with utmost regard.

Similarly, the ADC structure in the 13 wards of Ankpa local government area also decamped into the APC today. While the Atiku Door to Door grassroots network also endorsed Governor Yahaya Bello. Now to be known as GYB/CEDO Grassroots Network.
