The people of Kogi State have been enjoined to support the joint ticket of Governor Yahaya Bello/Edward Onoja in the November gubernatorial election in the state for more democratic gains.

The Coordinator of CEDO Media Network for GYB 2019, Chief Ali Atabor made the call at the weekend in Lokoja.

Chief Atabor said Governor Bello has succeeded in combining wisdom and prudence to confront critical sectors that were neglected hitherto, applying the meagre state’s resources to achieve results that cuts development across every aspect of the state.

According to him, the duo are grassroots politician whose knack for excellence and sincere service are devoid of pecuniary gains, that could move the state to the desired next level of development.

“Aside initiating capital projects, he has been able to execute and complete some abandoned capital projects in infrastructure, revolutionized agriculture, power generation, health, education, and so forth to lay the base for rapid development.

“The Ejiba Confluence Rice Mill which has the capacity to mill 50 tones of rice daily, with thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities for our citizens is a perfect example of the revolution talked about in Agric sector.

“It is repetitious to say that Governor Bello has splendidly curbed security challenges in Kogi State, insecurity which nearly crumbled some parts of the state, especially during election periods. Currently, our people live in peace, people are no longer afraid to visit their country homes.

“The governor and his chief of staff are pragmatic leaders, transparent, accountable and disciplined individuals who believe in equity and fairness. Take a closer look at the number of young persons we currently have in government, it has never been this good for Kogi youths.

“The differing views that have invaded the political space on the persona and leadership content of Governor Yahaya Bello is not a surprise. We are not ignorant of the fact that he is both loved and hated, which is normal in life. As a leader who must do what is right, you definitely would step on toes.

“The opponents, especially in the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have forgotten that in 16 years of acclaimed ‘ideal’ leadership in Kogi State, they neither delivered on good governance nor leadership.

“As I speak, electrification is ongoing in 200 communities in Igalaland. Don’t forget that the previous leaders that have ruled Kogi were all from Kogi East, yet over 200 communities have never had access to electricity.

“My appeal therefore is that we put our difference aside and work for the greater good of our state, which has been the sole passion of the New Direction Government under Governor Yahaya Bello.

“Looking back at yesterday and where we are currently, one observes a positive and significant difference in critical sectors in Kogi State. The Chief of Staff and his boss have continued to be at their best, giving privileges to credible folks, without ethnic bias to contribute their quota to the growth of their father land,” he concluded.
