She made the assertion today, Tuesday, in an interview with pressmen at the premises of the State House of Assembly shortly after her screening.

The Director General who noted that she had used her experience and expertise as the Chairman of Mineral Resources Management Committee to ensure the federal and state governments as well as local communities benefit from the natural endowment in the state said she was ready to ensure she brought the experience to bear in her new office.

Hajiya Hassiat noted that the state had been suffering underdevelopment despite its huge mineral deposits because of absence of enabling environment for necessary investors in the sector, stressed that she was committed to ensuring a change of narrative in that regard.

Prior to the emergence of the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, she said there existed frosty relationships among local mining communities and operators with the actual inhabitants enjoying next to nothing, but that the present administration has put relevant laws in place to ensure mandatory corporate social responsibility to quell any mistrust and ensure peace and development in the state.

Hajiya Hassiat then enthused that, of the over twenty-nine mineral deposits in the state which are open for local and international investment, her agency would market such resources rigorously and expressed hope that very soon many of them would begin to flood the state and Kogi would witness socioeconomic boom.

While expressing gratitude to the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for creating the agency and giving it freedom to operate, she said she was committed to justifying her new office by surpassing expectations.

She also noted her gratitude to the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Edward Onoja for his overwhelming support without which her agency would not have enjoyed the leap it has so far.
