Kogi Poly To Partner DACC On Quality Assurance, Capacity Training, Infrastructure

As part of its drive to further provide conducive learning atmosphere and capacity building, and infrastructural development, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja will be collaborating with the Delaware Africa Caribbean Coalition, (DACC) of the United States.

This was disclosed at the meeting between the management of Kogi State Polytechnic and the DACC team led by Thomas Grant held at the council hall of the Polytechnic main campus on Thursday, 29th, July, 2021.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Salisu Ogbo Usman In his remarks appreciated His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for creating the enabling environment for infrastructural and sustainable manpower
development in the institution in line with his Blue Print.

Dr. Usman further seized the opportunity to appreciate His Excellency for facilitating the meeting and collaboration which he described as timely and expected to project the institution on a global space.

He noted that the Polytechnic would make positive use of the established relationship with DACC to actualize its cardinal agenda of delivering quality assurance, security, among others.

In his remark, Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Honourable Wemi Jones who also led the DAAC team to the Polytechnic, disclosed that the collaboration with the US based agency was to actualize Governor Yahaya Bello’s vision of providing quality education for all.

On his part, the Commissioner for Finance, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, who also accompanied the team, further stressed that the State would partner the DACC in other sectors, including Agriculture, Health, Infrastructure and Technology.

He commended the Rector for a laudable job in the institution, adding that Dr Usman has been able to transform Kogi State Polytechnic with efficient use of funds that is not sufficient in the State.

President of DACC and Lead Chair for Kogi Project, Thomas Grant expressed delight with what the institution has put in place especially in the area of infrastructure and quality projects made by students of the school.

The Chairman of Education and Culture for DACC, Dr.Eunice Gwanmesia, commended the Rector for his outstanding efforts in making the institution admirable and attractive, just as she assured the Polytechnic management of robust relationship that would be of mutual benefits.

Highlights of the DACC visit include presentation of materials produced by the institution’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre such as towels, body cream, liquid detergents, Tie and Dye materials, among others.

The team also visited the exhibition house of School of Art, Design and Printing and inspected some ongoing projects on the campus.

Other members of the DACC team in the visit were Mr Efere Augustine, Dr. Thomas Timothy who are the Liaison Officers of the DACC in Nigeria, Mr Mensah who is the Business Consultant to the coalition.

The meeting had in attendance , the Director General, Bureau of Public Procurement, Barrister Sunday Ehimony and the Principal officers of the Polytechnic.
