The Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Muhammed has congratulated the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and his deputy, Chief Edward Onoja over the affirmation of their mandates by the Election Petition Tribunal a moment ago in Abuja.

The Commissioner who was among the first persons to grant interview to the press shortly after the pronouncement said the grace that saw the Governor win his re – election was sufficient to take him through his second term.

He said the Governor had won his re – election fair and square, noting that those who saw how the November 16, 2019 polls panned out were not surprised because the ruling APC was solidly on ground in all parts of the State.

Engr Bashir who said the ruling took its campaign promises to all polling units and houses in the state, while the opposition was busy playing politics of propaganda on the social media and wonder how such persons could wake up and cry foul after defeat.

“An unserious student should not complain of failure after exams. The same thing applies here. The opposition were more interested in playing on the emotions of Kogites. Voters saw it and rightly voted against them. Governor Bello’s record spoke for him in the election.”

“I am sure the antics of the opposition was to also play a fast one on the judiciary using all manner of underhand dealings. Thank God the justices saw through their games and rightly made their pronouncement on the basis of available facts.”

He therefore urged members of the opposition and the entire people of the state to join the Governor in moving Kogi State forward, saying it is the right thing to do if they truly care for the state and its citizens.

“The Governor has said it over and over that his interest is for the good of the state and that his doors remain open for anyone that is genuinely interested in the good of Kogi State and her citizens. They should join us so that we can take Kogi to the next level.”
