Kogi State House of Assembly Service Commission marks one year anniversary

The Kogi State House of Assembly Commission says it will continue to carry out its statutory role for the enhancement of legislative business in the State.

The Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Abdulmalik Andas made the remark to mark the one year anniversary of the establishment of the commission.

The Chairman who gave credit to the present administration for the political will to establish the Assembly Commission, noted that several efforts made in the past to have the commission in place proved abortive and commended Governor Yahaya Bello for the bold step in actualizing the feat.

He said the Governor by the efforts has recorded an unprecedented achievement demonstrating his respect for the rule of law.
According to the Chairman, the last one year of the Commission witnessed the inauguration of the Commission’s members, settling down of Workers and renovation of the block of the Assembly Staff Office allocated for the Commission for use.

He noted that within the period under review, the Members of the Commission worked towards the administrative Leadership of the Assembly based on the Career progression spelt out in law establishing the commission.

He however appealed to the state government to provide a befitting Office accommodation for the Staff, vehicles to aid movement of Staff as well as opportunity of training for Staff to update their knowledge on the job.

In a remark, the Clerk of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Amoka commended the State Governor for the creation of the Assembly Commission, pointing out that the effort show the present Administration’s interest in the separation of power.
He called on the Staff to be dedicated to duty for higher productivity.

All Members of the Commission, the Secretary, Comrade Yemisi Olorunmaiye and Staff were in attendance.
They expressed gratitude to God for sparing their lives in the last one year and the existence of the Commission.
