Kogi to hike information dissemination. – DG

Kogi state Government has reiterated its determination to attaining the best in its information sector.

The Director General of Kogi State Bureau of Information Services and Grassroots Sensitisation, Mr. Abdulkarim Abdulmalik disclosed this during a programme organised to mark Kogi State Council of Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Union (RATTAWU) day in Lokoja.

He said the state government would continue to intensify efforts until it attained the best in the state information sector.

“Government is assuring you that until we get to the maximum points of addressing issues bordering on the sector, we will not rest on our oars. So, keep on doing the the best until you make a good ambassador of the state”, he averred.

The Director General also promised better working conditions for Journalists working in the state; assuring them that the state government was already looking into improving their welfare for better performance.

He charged them to imbibe the best journalistic practises and be good ambassadors of the state.

While recounting how Governor Yahaya Bello had upgraded broadcasting infrastructure to increase the hours of broadcast in Radio Kogi, Mr, Abdulmalik commended the state government for recruiting additional staff to boost information dissmination in the state.

He urged Journalists in the state to be objective in their reportage during the forthcoming governorship elections; directing them to reveal acts of violence as the state government would not condone such acts.

Earlier, the National Chairman of RATTAWU, Comrade Kabir Garba Tsanni noted that RATTAWU impacted positively on every life and her activities should be embraced by all. He called on Kogi State Government to implement the new minimum wage for workers in the state.

The Chairperson of RATTAWU, Kogi State Charpter, Comrade Habibat Umar Ibrahim lauded the present administration in the state for noticeable improvement in the broadcast sector and the recent employment of more workers to improve its activities.

She appealed to state government for better intervention in the persistent need for more staff and operational vehicles in the broadcast sector of the state.

Highlight of the programme was the presentation of award on transformational performance in governance to Mr. Abdulkarim Abdulmalik by RATTAWU.
