NVMA awards Gov. Bello, holds annual 56th congress in Lokoja

The National Vetinery Medical Association of Nigeria has awarded Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his excellent performance at her 56th annual congress in Lokoja.

Speaking at the event, the Kogi State Governor represented by the Secretary to the State Government Dr. Mrs Folashade Ayoade Arike welcomed the Association members to the confluence state while he assured them of the state’s gladness of their presence.

The Governor thanked the association for the recognition given to him noting that their choice of Lokoja for this year’s conference was an attestation to the state’s solid security architecture.

Governor Bello dedicated the award he received to his mother and the good people of the state while he assured the association of the state’s continued commitment to the development of vetinery medicine.

Also at the event, Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Honourable Edward Onoja, pointed out that the State Government under the leadership of Governor Bello has made tremendous effort at ensuring that the State became a safe place for such event to hold.

He also revealed that the State Government understands the vital roles that veterinarian play in the society, saying that after discovering that there was shortage of vetinary professionals in the state, the administration employed twenty-six vet doctors for each of the constituencies.

The Governor’s running mate at the November poll also noted that the State Government had also facilitated the vaccination of over hundred thousand cattle in order to ensure their edibility as part of its contribution to the profession.

The Chief of Staff again thanked the Association for keeping faith with the State noting that the people of the State would choose who they knew was right to govern them in the next four years at the forth coming election.

Delivering his vote of thanks, the Kogi State Chairman of the association, Dr. Femi Kayode thanked the body for adopting Kogi State as the host of the annual congress.

Femi also praised the state government for its support towards the hosting of the congress, saying that despite this being the 56th annual congress, it is the first time that Kogi State will play host. A feat that he attributed to the general security that the state currently enjoys, the approachable nature of the current government of Yahaya Bello and the support that the body has enjoyed from the government over the years.

The conference which draws veterinarian from across the country also features a trade fair and other side attractions, and is expected to last up till Thursday with the highlight being a dinner party.
