KSCOET Mopa Kicks Off 2026 Provost’s Cup Competition

The Kogi State College of Education Technical (KSCOET), Mopa, has commenced its 2026 Provost’s Cup Competition, with students from the institution’s various schools competing in four sporting events.
The competition, which began on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, is also serving as part of the College’s preparations for the forthcoming Ododo All-Campus Games.
Declaring the competition open, the Provost of the College, Prof. Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, described sports as an important component of education, saying it promotes discipline, teamwork and physical fitness while contributing to students’ overall development.



Prof. Ibrahim said the Provost’s Cup would provide an opportunity to identify talented students who could represent the College at the Ododo All-Campus Games.
He also disclosed that incentives were being arranged to encourage students to give their best, while urging participants to compete with discipline and sportsmanship.
The opening ceremony featured a march-past by students from the various schools, with staff members also participating in some activities.

Students further entertained participants with a cultural display during the ceremony.
The participating schools are the School of Science, School of Business Education, School of Technical Education/Early Childhood and Primary Education, and School of Vocational Education.
As part of the opening activities, the Non-Academic Staff defeated the Academic Staff in table tennis, while the Staff team defeated the Students’ team in a closely contested volleyball match.
Students will compete in volleyball, track and field, table tennis and basketball as the competition progresses.

According to the College, the competition is expected to provide students with an avenue to showcase their sporting talents, promote unity and prepare them for higher-level sporting engagements.
The 2026 Provost’s Cup is scheduled to climax with the grand finale on Saturday, 19 September 2026.
