Loyalty like they say can be described as the utmost faith and allegiance to a cause, a person or a government while obedient loyalty is when we obey the orders and rules of our superiors and others appointed over us as well as the laws of our constitution. Loyalty is when you are obedient even when your superior is not there to watch and observe if truely you are carrying out his or her instructions.

Edward Onoja, the Deputy Governor of Kogi state has over time shown both in the open and behind the scene that he is really an embodiment of a loyal and obedient servant. As a matter of fact, one of the major fault I personally see in him is his extreme exhibition of loyalty to what he believes in even when it seems like he is alone.

Yes, the congress of the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress might have come and gone as the party hierarchy decided in it’s wisdom to go for the less rancour model of congress termed “Affirmation”. This model is basically used to press legitimacy on an existing arrangement.

His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, the supreme leader of the party in the state who also bought the idea of the party gave clear instructions that all the wishes of the party be granted which means returning all current executives of the party at the ward levels, a benovolent act that earned him accolades from the party executives who have laboured for the first and second term actualization of the electoral mandate of his excellency.

“No government official no matter how highly placed must interfare and go against my wish” were the words of the Governor as he addressed the various stakeholders of the party before the collection of congress materials.

Personally, I watched keenly trying to know the compliance level of the clear instructions of both the party hierarchy and the leader of the party in the state. At last, there was almost an 100 percent Compliance with the entire process, a feet not recorded a cross the whole 36 states of the federation.

Okene, the country home of his excellency the executive governor of Kogi state ran a rancor free process with no clear sign of influence by the Governor himself. The affirmation processes were conducted by the party structures at the ward level and not in the home of the Governor himself. With this, he has led by example by not going against his own words.

The one which drew my attention most was the zone of his excellency the Deputy Governor of the state. It was not only rancor free and orderly but also showed a great deal of obedience to the instructions of the Governor. In some climes in this same Nigeria, the deputy governor would have ordered that all materials meant to perfect the affirmation be brought to his personal residence to select those he felt might not be useful to him against the wish of his superior. This used to be the practice in various wards and local government of the state during the inglorious years of the PDP in power.

Yesterday, I and some discussants saw pictorial evidence of how the Deputy Governor arrived like others to the local government headquarters of his native Olamaboro local government to recieve instructions of proceedings from the Local Government Chairman of his LGA on how the affirmation should be done before proceeding to his ward. The fellow I was discussing with actually told me that since his name was boldly written to be in charge of Olamaboro, he should automatically be in charge of the LGA as the most senior political office holder there.

To me, this act even when his boss the Governor of the state was not there on ground to monitor activities shows how obedient and loyal he is as a Deputy Governor. He is not only consistent in his ways as a faithful servant but also runs an indepth loyal relationship with the governor.

Normally, time and season unveils human but in the case of GYB-CEDO, it has been an 100% dedication and trust to an age long personal relationship.
