Makama’s defection, a boost to APC – Hon. Patrick Onogu
Penultimate week, the media space especially in Kogi was greeted with the news of Hon. Friday Sani Makama’s defection with mixed reactions from different quarters. Today, that defection has boosted the party at all levels, an APC chieftain has confirmed.
A week to the ongoing party registration and re-validation, Hon. Friday Sani (Makama) had gone home to mobilize his supporters and other members of All Progressives Congress APC especially from Kogi East to sensitize and encourage them on the need for re-validation.
Some notable members of People Democratic Party PDP are said to have gotten the All Progressive Congress Membership cards but will not publicize it until the right meetings are held with stakeholders. Hon. Makama has been reported to have invested hugely for mobilization of the party re-validation exercise which has encouraged so many members and new members to get registered.
Hon. Patrick Onogu (Paddy), Special Adviser to the Governor on Local and Chieftency Affairs has appreciated Alhaji Yahaya Bello for working day and night to encourage people to join the party through his exalted office as the Chairman of the Sensitization Committee for Revalidation, Registration Exercise. He said the move by the Governor to bring Hon. Makama back to the party has boosted their morale at the local government level. He noted that Gov. Bello has shown that charity begins at home, it will be difficult to encourage people to join the party at the national without putting your house in order which the Governor has done.
‘The coming of Hon. Makama is an end to opposition in Kogi, he has come to put an end to malicious politics of bitterness. How he performs his magic in wooing opposition members surprise all, also he has been in consultation with other party leaders and opposition leaders to have a smooth defection of all members to APC’.
‘Hon. Makama has once again proven to his people that he is a worthy politician, his efforts during this revalidation exercise has shown his generosity which is a thing of encouragement for other opposition members to join the party.’ he said.
Hon. Patrick thanked Governor Bello for this great move for the party, adding that Igalamela APC members will forever be grateful to him and his team.
